Karnataka women win easily, men go down to Kerala

While the State women thumped Tamil Nadu in straight sets, the men went down by the same margin to Kerala.

The hosts’ women spikers, who launched their campaign with an impressive win over Puducherry on Tuesday, began from where they left off, crushing Tamil Nadu with another wonderful display. After taking the opening set 25-16, Karnataka were tested a bit in the second but the eves stepped on the pedal when it mattered most to take it 25-21. Leading 2-0 and with confidence high, Karnataka eves wasted little time, clinching the set and match 25-17.

The men, who too got off to victorious start in their opening match, put up a strong fight before going down valiantly to Kerala. After losing the opening set 15-25, they came closer in the second and third but Kerala held their nerve in pocketing them 25-23, 25-22.

Results: Men: Kerala bt Karnataka 25-15, 25-23, 25-22; Puducherry bt AP 15-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-14.

Women: Karnataka bt Tamil Nadu 25-16, 25-21, 25-17; Andhra Pradesh bt Puducherry 25-13, 25-13, 25-17.
