‘Sangeetha Yatre’

Adarsha Sugama Sangeetha Academy Trust, under the aegis of Department of Kannada and Culture and BBMP, is organising the valedictory function of Dr C Ashwath Sugama Sangeetha Yatre, Kannadave Satya-Ashwath Nitya on December 29 at National College Ground, Basavanagudi at 5.30 pm. Singer S P Balasubramanyam will inaugurate the event in the presence of Rashtrakavi G S Shivarudrappa, N S Laxminarayana Bhat, H S Venkatesha Murthy and others. On the occasion, artistes like Vyjayanthi Kashi, Bhramari Dance Troupe and Soorya Kalavidaru will perform with well-known folk artistes.

The programme will create a world record with more than 300 singers performing on the stage for the first time with the support of around 40 instrumentalists.


Mayamruga, a play, will be staged at Ranga Shankara on December 28, 7.30 pm. Penned by Kannada author Poornachandra Tejaswi, this play explores the world beyond our vision and explains the reason for existence of ghosts in human minds.
Works of Tejaswi have always excited Prithvi Aradhya, the director of this play. Mayamruga is based on the experiences of Tejaswi and his friend, who had gone to a graveyard in search of ghosts. On the way they encounter a dog, which they mistake as a ghost.

Through many such funny experiences and encounters, the play explores the human psyche and imagination at various moments.

 Humourous and conversational, the script brings out moments and figments of human imagination, which are silly and make you smile. For tickets, call 9880695659.

Flute duet

INVOLVED B K Anantha Ram and Amith A Nadig.Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha is holding a flute duet concert by B K Anantha Ram and Amith A Nadig and team on December 25 at Purandhara Bhavana, 8th Main, HAL Second Stage, Near Indiranagar Club. The event will be held at 5.30 pm.

Myriad expressions

As part of Ashish Mohan Khokar’s Dance DISCourse, Male Dance Festival and Awards will be held on December 30, 6 pm at Alliance Francaise.

Twelve of the classical and non-classical style male dancers in the City will perform on the occasion.

They are Anil Iyer, B P Sweekruth, Gururaj, Janardhan Urs, K Murlimohan Kalva, Pulakeshi Kasturi, P Praveen Kumar, Parshwanath Upadhyay, Satyanarayan Raju, Seshadri lyengar, Tushar Bhatt and Uday Shetty.

Artistes will present their dance forms in solo and group performances.

‘Follow the Star’

Follow the Star, a special Christmas service, will be held on December 25, 9 am at Murphy Town Grounds, Ulsoor.

There will be singing by a 20-member choir on the occasion.

Marathi play

Maharashtra Mandal, Bangalore is staging a Marathi play called Jyacha Shevat Goad at Ravindra Kalakshetra on December 26, 10.30 am. The play is written by Ratnakar Matkari and directed by Sujay Ghorpadkar.

Ratnakar Matkari, an acclaimed writer in Marathi, is known for his heart-touching comedies while Sujay Ghorpadkar has won accolades for his contemporary style of presenting a play.

Bharatanatyam ‘Rangapravesha’

The bharatanatyam Rangapravesha of Surabhi Bharadwaj will be held on December 26, 6 pm at Ravindra Kalakshetra, J C Road. Surabhi has won several prizes in dance and music, both at school and college levels.

She took her formative steps under the tutelage of K M Raman. She has participated in several bharatanatyam dance ballets conducted by Sri Rajarajeshwari Nritya Kala Mandira, Tumkur during their Nupura Charana programmes. She has also performed during Tumkur Habba, Dasara and Ramanavami celebrations.
