After performing in New Delhi, Agra and Pondicherry, the troupe was all set to enthral the Bangaloreans.

Shambhavi School of Dance was instrumental in bringing these international fame artistes to the City to perform at Freedom Park. The contemporary piece had a special attraction as the artistes shook their leg to the tunes of Marc Rossier, an ace guitarist from Switzerland.

The audience had gathered much before time near the amphitheatre to witness this rare  performance, but the programme was delayed by half-an-hour due to technical problems.

Choreographed by Sudarshan Chakravorty, the contemporary piece dealt with a cross-journey between an ordered, disciplined and beautiful past and a chaotic and unhinged present. It reflected the discomfort that an individual feels living in the present time and the nostalgia which brings solace but doesn’t hold a solution for him.

The one-hour performance had some innovative steps and unique body language to convey the message effectively. The movements articulated and conveyed the helplessness and disability to communicate in the modern life.

The dancers traced the life paths alternating between the present and past to make it an interesting piece. All the performers were dynamic and quick enough to grasp the situation and switch on to the other expression immediately. Artistes Dibyendu Nath, Paramita Saha, Nikita Bhattacharya, Koushik Das and Ankita Duttagupta made the best use of the stage with their skills.

“I was eagerly waiting for the dance to commence. But I was not really satisfied with the performance. If they could have given some introduction or background of the theme, I could have understood it better,” felt Ravi Shankar after witnessing the event. The show will be held in Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Kolkata
also.
