None can query my largesse to mutts: CM

“I have given money to Kerala temples also. Who is anyone to question me?” the chief minister thundered while campaigning in Chamarajanagar, in remarks directed at H D Deve Gowda and H D Kumaraswamy of the JD(S), for their campaign against him, and criticism of His generosity towards religious institutions.

“I am prepared to give money for development of churches and mosques also,” the chief minister said.Defending his charity to temples and mutts, the chief minister, in remarks obviously directed at Kumaraswamy, said: “You did not give money to temples and that is why you could not stay in power.”

The chief minister’s wrath against the JD(S) leaders was unrelenting. “The father and son duo have looted crores of rupees in power and irrigation departments. I have proof,” he declared.

Countering Deve Gowda’s move in distributing booklets about scams in the Yeddyurappa regime, the chief minister said he too would print and distribute booklets about the scams during their chief ministership.

Turning his attention to Siddaramaiah of the Congress, Yeddyurappa said the Leader of the Opposition seemed to be “under the spell of a spirit and is using below-the-belt language.”

‘Root cause of corruption’
Speaking to reporters in Hubli, the chief minister said there was so much material on the illegal activities of Gowda and his sons that a TV serial could be produced. He described Gowda and his sons as  the “root cause” of corruption in the State.

The chief minister said that the post of the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council would fall vacant soon. A BJP candidate would be elected to the post as the party had a majority in the Council, he said. Senior leaders of the party would take a final decision in this regard and the name of the candidate would be announced soon.
