Five arrested for girl's murder

The body of Ramya from Mysore was found in a burnt state near Kempisiddanahundi in Nanjangud police station limits on Dec 7.

According to the police, the arrested are Mukunda alias Loose Maada, Raghavendra alias Raghu and Harish of Paduvarahalli (Vinayaka Nagar) in Mysore City, Mahesh, a goods auto driver, Srikanth alias Bakra of Goddanapura Hundi in Nanjangud taluk. All are in the age group of 20 to 24 years.

Ramya, BBM II year student at the government first grade college in VIjayanagar was in love with Mukunda. She became more demanding and pressurised him to marry her failing which she threatened to commit suicide, holding Mukunda responsible for the act, the police said.

Mukunda and his friends from Mysore and Nanjangud hatched a plan to eliminate Ramya. He  accompanied her to KRS promising to marry at a temple, where she was strangled to death with her dupatta near Goddanapurahundi near Nanjangud taluk. Mukunda and his friends shifted the body to a field near Kempisiddanahundi and burnt it with petrol, the police said.
