They charged that the authorities concerned have not kept up their promise of putting guard stones as well as iron railing to prevent the vehicles from falling into three tanks.
The officials have not woke up from their slumber even after 31 people met their watery grave two weeks ago when the tempo plunged into the Unbatti Tank on that road.
Still the overcrowded maxi-cabs and other private vehicles have been plying on this road despite assurances of the Regional Transport Authority of stopping the same.

Action
Action should be initiated against the regional transport officer for his ‘dereliction’ of duty as well as his failure to check the plying of such vehicles on the national highway.
They said the works done by the department concerned near the tanks were of poor quality. They wanted action against the guilty.Their stir threw normal traffic out of gear for more than one hour.

Traffic jam
Hundreds of vehicles lined up on both the directions. On the receipt of information, police came to the spot and pacified the activists to call off their agitation. The vedike leaders said they would intensify their agitation if the district administration failed to take up concrete steps in this regard.
