Dr N K Rai, Member of Karnataka Veterinary Association filed the petition seeking quashing of the notification issued by the Public Works Department to provide 20 acres of land in UAS campus at Hebbal.

The vacation bench headed by Justice Venugopala Gowda refused to hear the matter as the petition has no urgency for hearing. The bench told the petitioner to move the petition before the regular bench.

The petitioner contended that according to norms of the Veterinary Council of India (VCI), the college requires at least 150 acres to establish a college and ensure its recognition.
“In spite of the fact that the university already had shortage of land, the State had decided to provide 20 acres of land of the University for construction of quarters for the judges of High Court,” the petitioner submitted.
