Lata songs complement the weekend mood...

But, this was a musical nite that paid tribute to ‘Melody Queen’ Lata Mangeshkar rendering the renowned bollywood singer’s all time hits to the houseful audience.

Dr Snehashri Nirmal Kumar, a dentist by profession had organised the programme in memory of her father K A Nirmal Kumar, a great fan of Lata.

Snehashri who started with a prayer, later went on to sing ‘Ai mere watan ke logon..’, ‘Kitna pyaara vada..’, ‘Aa jaane jaa...’, ‘Pyar hua ekraar hua hain...’ to name a few. Mention must be made of ‘Kitna pyara vada..’ a song from Caravan released in 1971, Snehashri sang along with Vyasaraj to the loud applause. Rajkapoor starrer ‘Pyar hua ekraar hua hain...’ from ‘Shree 420’ did have the connoisseurs of music swaying to the rhythm.

Introduction

The compere gave a brief introduction of every song that was rendered; from lyricist to music director and singers for the benefit of music lovers.

He also gave minute information related to the life of Lata Mangeshkar. Even as the programme was on, people were trickling in, only to be welcomed by the jam-packed hall.

A few preferred to sit on the steps inside, while a few didn’t mind to enjoy the evening albeit standing.

An LCD screen was also put up at the reception, besides over 100 chairs, which were kept there, fully occupied by young and old alike.
