According to Lashkar Police who are investigating the case, the woman accompanied by a man checked into the lodge on Tuesday night.

He recorded his name as ‘Mukesh, Rajendra Nagar in Bangalore’ at the reception.
Repeated knocks on the door of the room didn’t yield any results in the morning. Suspecting foul play, the room boy peeped through the ventilator from outside only to see the woman lying on the cot, covered by a blanket.

Cops suspect that the man who walked into the lodge with the lady who was murdered later, may  have raped her before doing her to death. Liquor bottles were also found in the room. Though the lodge is situated in the  heart of the city, it is devoid of CCTV camera. In the past, when Lashkar police cracked a similar case, it had led them to a psychopath in the previous year.

A woman had been done to death in a lodge attached to KSRTC sub-urban bus stand building. Also, of the several victims of serial killer Mohan Kumar, four had been done to death in the same station limits here.

No camera

Yet another murder, but it seems nothing to wake up the lodge owners yet. When the similar incidents had rendered cops sleepless a few years ago, the police had made it mandatory for the lodges and restaurants to equip their reception counters with CCTV cameras.

However, it’s only in the case of few lodges the order was implemented. The aim behind this was to capture the photographs of the customers, that comes handy in case of any such mishaps .

One was killed on the spot and two others suffered injury when a speeding car rammed into a lorry parked off Mysore-Nanjangud Road on Wednesday here.

Ummer quickly ran out to safety. And, fire personnel doused the fire.  Devaraja police attributed the cause of the fire to short circuit. However, though the van has a gas kit which was almost empty.

The vehicle was running on petrol which was also close to being empty.  A total of seven persons- two from England and five from Zambia were on awareness drive about religion and meditation in the city since December 13, 2010.
