'State lost Rs 1 lakh cr in scams'

Last Updated 13 January 2011, 17:48 IST

Addressing mediapersons, the Congress leader said the government was not ready to allow the adjournment motion on the scams fearing exposure. It was the responsibility of the Opposition parties to highlight the scams.

He said it is not proper to pass Bills when the Opposition members are staging a protest inside the House. Members of the Opposition parties staged a walkout as it would be wrongly construed that they have approved the Bills if present in the session, he said.

The Congress and JD(S) members have decided to keep off from the proceedings of the legislature. The Congress Legislature Party will convene a meeting before the session on Thursday to decide its future course of action. A few MLAs were upset over not getting opportunity to speak in the Assembly. They demanded the senior leaders to make use of the opportunity to speak instead of demanding an adjournment motion.
