No mom's role for Madhuri

Said a source close to Madhuri, “When Anil Kapoor offered her the role of Sonam’s mom in the film, Madhuri was in two minds. She was a bit hesitant about playing mother to a girl in her twenties.”

“At the same time, Madhuri also felt awkward about turning down Anil’s offer, an actor with whom she has shared a very warm relationship in the past. So she decided to watch Freaky Friday.”

“Post that, she decided the role will not suit her, especially after her unsuccessful attempt at a comeback with Aaja Nachle in 2007.” In fact, many protest posts were also put up on a social networking site against Madhuri playing mom to Sonam.

Anil and Madhuri have been one of Bollywood’s best pairs. The two had scorched the screens in the 90s and worked together in a number of superhit films like Jamai Raja, Tezaab, Beta, Kishen Kanhaiya, Ram Lakhan, Parinda, Khel to name a few.

They were last seen together in Pukar in 1999 and even acted in the multi-starrer Lajja in 2001, though they weren’t paired opposite each other in that.
