Dist gears up for first phase of polio drive

Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Meena has called upon the officials to sensitise people on pulse polio drive.

He was addressing a preparatory meeting organised to discuss preparatory measures for the drive to be held on January 23, here on Monday.

District Child Health Programme Officer Lakshminarayan said as many as 757 booths will be set up in the district and a total of 3,028 persons have been appointed to overlook the drive. Besides, 151 co-ordinators will also help the drive to be successful.

He further said that as many as 527 booths will be established in rural areas where 2,108 personnel will assist the authorities. Besides, 105 supervisors will also be there.

The district administration has set a target of administering polio drops to 1,82,615 children. Apart from it, the district administration has taken effective measures to administer polio drops to 2,000 children of migrated workers who are working in tile factories. 

Intensive campaigning will be done at the taluk level to which nodal officers have been appointed. On the eve of the pulse polio drive, an awareness campaign will be held by school children.

District Health and Family Welfare Officer H C Ramesh, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer N Shantappa, Additional Superintendent of Police H R Bhagwan Das and others were present.
