Water to be released from Gorur dam for irrigation

The meeting, which was attended by legislators and officials of irrigation and agriculture department of the Hemavathi river basin, has decided to utilise 13.12 tmc ft of water from Gorur dam.

Somanna, who is also district in-charge minister for Hassan, said 1.905 tmc ft would be utilised for drinking water purposes. He said a high-level committee headed by Kaveri Neeravari Nigama Managing Director M A Sadiq had been directed to submit a report on the rehabilitation measures required for families in 10 villages in the Hemavathi basin adversely affected by seepage of water from irrigation canals.
