Actress Harshika Poonacha is happy as her film Jackie has completed 100 days. Harshika says everywhere she goes people can’t stop raving about her role in the film.

Though Bhavana was the heroine of Jackie, it was Harshika’s character that lingered in people’s minds. “Every actress has a turning point in her career, mine came with Jackie.

Last year ended on a sweet note for me as people even complimented me for my role in Thamassu. I am flooded with offers now but I want to be careful with the kind of films I would like to be seen in after this,” Harshika tells Metrolife.

Having done bubbly, emotional and intense characters, Harshika felt it was time
she tried something different. That’s when she signed 5 Idiots and Murali Meets Meera.

“All these days I was seen crying in front of the camera, so in 5 Idiots I have tried my hand at comedy,” she adds. When asked if she was playing one of the ‘idiots’ in the movie, she laughs, “No way, I’m not an idiot,” and adds, “I am the lead heroine, the five guys are the ‘idiots’ who kidnap me in the movie. For the first time, people will see me in glamourous avatar wearing really short skirts. Let’s see how they react to this change.”

This year Harshika will also debut in the Tamil film Enga Veettu Pillai. The movie, directed by Prashant, is a heroine-oriented one and is also being made in Kannada and Telugu. “I have noticed that in Kannada films, actresses from other industries get more roles, so why can’t Kannada girls prove their mettle in other industries,” she quips.

As for the future, Harshika looks forward to teaming up with her Jugaari co-star Avinash in Pari. Talks are on to work in films with Ajay Rao and Jaggesh’s son. “I am taking things slowly for people see me as a ‘good girl who acts in good films’ and I want to make sure that it stays that way,” she signs off.
