Bhattacharya gets bail

Bhattacharya, who plays for Churchill Brothers in the I-League, stayed the entire day at the Khardah police station, but was granted bail after he showed signs of ill health.

“Doctors advised rest for him and he was released on a bail bond. He has been asked to appear before the Barrackpore courts on January 28,” police sources said.

Bhattacharya, who has a history of bad behaviour, had an altercation with a traffic constable near Sodepur while he was travelling with his family from airport late on Sunday night.

According to reports, he violated a traffic signal and, during the alteraction, beat up the constable who had to be hospitalised at the Barasat General Hospital.
