RIL allots 1.6 lakh shares to employees under ESOP

"The company has allotted 1,60,832 equity shares of Rs 10 each, on January 22, 2011, pursuant to the Employees Stock Option Scheme," The Mukesh Ambani-led energy giant said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Earlier, RIL had announced the allotment of 2.86 lakh shares under the ESOP scheme on January 5 this year. Besides, in November 2010, RIL had announced the allotment of 2.25 lakh shares to employees, while in October last year the company had allotted 2.18 lakh shares to its employees.

Last week, the company had reported a 28.14 per cent growth in its net profit at Rs 5,136 crore for the third quarter of the current financial year, against a net profit of Rs 4,008 crore in the year-ago period.

Shares of RIL today ended at Rs 958.55, down 1.29 per cent from previous close on the BSE.
