Mishap: Miraculous escape for eight

Two among them Manikanta, 18, of Lalithadripura and Shivakumar, 40, of Hanur suffered minor injuries, while the others escaped unhurt. The duo are admitted at K R Hospital.

Manikanta was riding his two-wheeler towards his village off Lalithamahal Road, when the lorry coming from opposite direction hit him. As a result, the motorcycle brushed past the tata sumo  that was moving on its left side. Manikanta, in his attempt to save his life had jumped off. According to Devaraja Traffic Police, it’s the fault of both lorry and two-wheeler moving in a great speed.

Six occupants of Tata Sumo from Hanur in Kollegal taluk, had come to Mysore to attend a funeral. Shivakumar was one among them.

A case has been registered by Lashkar Traffic Police.

Scrap yard explosion: Prime accused files for anticipatory bail

Zaheer Alam Khan, prime accused in the scrap yard explosion case that shook the city on December 25, has filed for anticipatory bail. Khan who is eluding arrest since the incident, filed bail plea in the District and Sessions Court on Jan 18. N R Police who are investigating into the case, arrested two more accused on Saturday. Abbas of Gayathripuram and Zabiullah of Mandi Mohalla were regularly supplying body spray and air freshers to the yard. The two were produced before a court and subsequently released on bail. Seven people lost their lives in that incident.
