183 couples tie nuptial knot

The marriage programme reflected the spirit of the seer’s works in Tumkur as couple from various castes, creed tied the knot. The couples included Lingayaths, Upparas, persons from Bovi community among others. There were also many inter-caste marriages. This apart, persons with special abilities were also married on the same dias. One of the brides there could see only with one eye, while the groom was fully blind. The Suttur mutt donated ‘Thali’, toe rings to the girl along with a saree, while the groom was presented with a dhoti, shirt and shalya.

Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, in his address lauded the contributions of mutts like Suttur mutt, Siddaganga mutt and Taralabalu kshethra in uplifting the standards of education and social life of people. The burden of government has reduced due to services of these institutions, he said.
