'Take steps to check contagious diseases'

Speaking at health officials meet on Saturday, he directed the TMC, Town Panchayat, Gram Panchayats to supply drinking water only after testing scientifically. He said that storm water drains must be cleaned for the easy flow of water.

 “Measures should be taken to see that mosquitoes do not breed in stagnant water. Fogging should be undertaken.”

The DC urged the health officials to see that pure drinking water is supplied in hotels and to check the cleanliness. From January till June end, 137 cases of diarrhoea, 37 jaundice, 7 malaria, 3 Leprsoy, 13 chickenpox, 253 dysentery, 2,263 dog bites, 58 snake bites have been registered in the district, said DHO Dr Shivaram Nayak.

The DC directed the DHO to maintain a register of those who have suffered from various diseases with details such as name, village and hospital where treatment was taken.
