The rules titled Karnataka Private Medical Establishment Rules, 2009, has been made public by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, inviting suggestions from the stakeholders.
Health Minister Sriramulu in his reply to an unstarred question by Congress member R V Venkatesh in the Legislative Council, on Monday, said that the draft rules will be finalised soon.
The minister said that the rules stipulate specific standards for medical establishments in terms of infrastructure and technical staff. Educational qualification has been prescribed for staff in the clinics. No clinic will be allowed to function without the department’s approval.
