Varsity staff will have to declare assets soon

Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department M Madan Gopal said here on Tuesday that the Government would issue a circular in this regard. He was responding to the suggestion of Lokayukta Superintendent of Police B Mahantesh, at the the silver jubilee function of the Gulbarga University Non-Teaching Employees Federation.

Earlier, Mahantesh said that the university employees did not heed to requests to declare their assets.

Inquiries made by Deccan Herald revealed that the Karnataka Civil Services Rules equally applied to university employees but no university took the provision of compulsory declaration of assets and liabilities seriously.

However, the universities have been religiously following all other ‘beneficial’ provisions of the KCSR.
