Beautiful star Zeenat Aman can still put many under her spell with her sensuous voice and impeccable style. She was in the City recently as part of the Bangalore Fashion Week, where she walked the ramp in a beautiful lehenga. Wearing a bronze coat paired with a green and red lehenga, she seemed very happy with her attire. “No one really does anything for the mother of the bride. After all, mothers are the ones who finally control the money for the wedding,” she says about her outfit.

Looking radiant as ever, the star spoke to Metrolife about her own sense of style, fashion and the young breed of stars in the industry. She mentions that she is quite struck by the Indian fashion industry today, which she was a part of earlier. “It was many many years ago,” she laughs. “I started out as a teenager and today, the industry is fabulous,” she says. “It has become very professional. During our time, it was very homegrown but now, it has become global,” she adds.

And what about her own style statement? “I have never been a fashion victim. My own personal style is comfort. I wear whatever I can be at ease in,” she says. Ask her about the fashion icons of the industry and she promptly replies, “As far as global influence is concerned, I would say Aishwarya Rai and among the new ones, I think Sonam is quite a fashionista,” she says.

When it comes to movies, Zeenat informs that there are a couple of projects in the pipeline. “I am looking at age-appropriate roles right now but they should also be feminine,” she says. “The industry today is very technical and corporate in its approach,” she cites about the changes she sees in the film industry. And with the industry becoming very professional, does she miss something about the yesteryears? “Not really. I enjoy every time I am in front of the camera,” she says.

And while she may have her share of favourites, she plays it safe when it comes to taking names. “Each of the actors have done very well in the different roles that they have played. I think they all are very good at what they do,” she says. Mention Bangalore and she says she remembers shooting for Shalimar here. “The City has changed so much that I can’t recognise it anymore,” she says.
