Manjunath’s brother had lent money to one Deepak. When Manjunath and his brother asked Deepak to return the money, they were assaulted by the latter’s family members.
Deepak took the matter to the RT Nagar police, and Manjunath was arrested. He reportedly developed chest pain in police custody. He taken to the Mahaveer Jain Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Leader of the Opposition V S Ugrappa, making a preliminary submission on an adjournment motion sought to be moved, demanded that the government hand over case to the CBI. In his reply, Home Minister V S Acharya summarily rejected the demand for a CBI probe.
