The classic TV show, about lifeguards who patrol a beach in California will make a comeback as a comedy, directed by Jeremy Garelick, who scripted <em>The Break-Up</em> starring Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. <br /><br />It is not known whether the original cast will be a part of the project, but the film will revolve around two unlikely lifeguard candidates trying to catch up with the glamourous group of lifeguards. <br /><br />“It felt like the template to do a movie that was similar to <em>Stripes</em> and <em>Police Academy</em>, the comedies I loved when I was growing up. Rather than trying to pitch the tone, I figured it would be easier to write the first act to convey who these characters were,” said Garelick.</p>
