Teachers protest in Madikeri

The protesters, who commenced their rally from Gandhi Mantapa in the town, submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner K H Ashwathanarayana Gowda. They demanded that the disparity in the pay scale of high school assistant teachers should be rectified.

Allowances due to teachers in the unaided education institutions should be released soon. Shortcomings in the transfer counselling programme. High school teachers, who have completed post graduation, should be promoted as PU college lecturers.

Cancel the decision of denying pay hike to contract based teachers. All part-time teachers should be given annual increment. Remuneration for SSLC answer sheet valuation should be given on par with the payment of PU college teachers, protesters urged adding that the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission should be implemented soon.

High School Assistant Teachers Association District President C T Somashekhar, Secretary Shafiulla Sharif, Vice-Presidents T G Premkumar and M U Changappa led the protest.
