Sachin's scan allays fears of injury; to join team today

Last Updated 21 February 2011, 17:04 IST

The Mumbai batsman, who experienced an uneasiness on his left knee, underwent an MRI scan at a private Mumbai hospital on Sunday night to allay fears of an injury scare.

The batting maestro had flown directly to Mumbai from Dhaka while the rest of the squad, excluding MS Dhoni,  headed Bangalore.

The right-hander will take active part in team’s training session on Tuesday afternoon at the Chinnaswamy stadium, which appeared to have warmed up to Indian cricketers after receiving a heavy shower on Monday evening.

Though the forecast predicts rains for the next two days, it shouldn’t be a too much of problem as far as team’s outdoor training schedules are concerned.

Skipper Dhoni, who opted to visit his home town on the way, too arrived here on Monday evening.

After guiding India to a thumping 87-run win over Bangladesh in Dhaka on Saturday, the 28-year-old had chosen to make his presence felt at the ongoing National Games in Jharkhand on Sunday.

The Indian team, meanwhile, opted to rest on Monday with most of the players confined to their hotel rooms. Left-arm pace duo of Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra, however, checked into the National Cricket Academy for a training session in the evening. Nehra had missed the opening fixture due to a back spasm.

India take on England in a key game here on February 27.
