JOIN US Taking note of the media reports on the issue, the Commission said many from the public and official circles had appealed for its intervention in the matter to protect and promote human rights of the serviing officials. The Commission observed that due to the alleged ‘abusing and manhandling’ Somaraju was hospitalised for treatment. It asked the Chief Secretary to conduct an inquiry into the alleged incident within a month from the receipt of this notice.
It also directed the state government to disclose whether any complaint has been lodged with the police with regard to the incident. If so, he wanted to know the status of the investigation. The Commission also directed victim Somaraju to file his written statement detailing the facts of the incident.
