JOIN USKasab, whose death sentence was upheld by the Bombay High Court on Monday, would be among the over 2,000 inmates of the high-security Arthur Road Jail to be counted by BMC enumerators.
The questions relate to marital status, education, job profile, nature of service, religion, mother tongue, date of birth, languages known, source of income, nationality among others.
"All prisoners, Indians or foreigners, lodged in jails at both Arthur Road and Byculla would be counted during the exercise. Kasab will also be counted and he will have to answer a set of questions relating to personal details, education, nature of work etc," Dr S D Thosar, Assistant Health Officer (Census) told PTI.
"The census exercise at the Arthur Road jail began yesterday. Kasab will be counted tomorrow but by our own jail staff," Arthur Road prison Superintendent Rajendra Dhamne told PTI.
A new category called institutional household has been created to include in the census all those who stay in hostels, jails and hospitals.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) enumerators have trained jail authorities in carrying out the census in prisons. "We have trained the jail staff who are carrying out the census exercise," Dr Thosar said.
There are about 3,500 prisoners lodged in Arthur Road jail of whom 2,000 have been counted so far and the rest will be enumerated tomorrow.
The exercise at Byculla prison is expected to be over tomorrow.
