Schools, colleges will remain close today; I PU exams will be held as per schedule

A shobhayathre will be held from Gaddige to Gandhi Maidan at 2 pm. Thousands of Hindu organisation workers are expected to take part. Udupi Pejawar Seer Vishweshatheertha Swamiji will bless the occasion, VHP Organising Secretary Keshav Hegde will give introductory remarks. Bajrang Dal National Convenor Subhash Chouhan will deliver key-note address. Hanuman Shakthi Jagarana Campaiagn Committe President B J Chinnappa will preside.

The police have taken up elaborate security arrangement as part of Hindu Samajotsava. About 1,000 police personnel will be deployed, said Superintendent of Police Manjunath K Annigeri, speaking to Deccan Herald.

He said 8 platoons of KSRP, 14 DAR, 7 DySPs, 15 police inspectors, 55 PSIs will be deployed along with 650 police personnel. Four DySPs, 8 inspectors, 30 PSIs, 400 police persoonel along with 30 women constables from Mandya, Hassan, Mysore and Chamarajanagara will be deployed.

All the schools and colleges will remain closed on Thursday. However, I PU exam will be held as usual. As a precautionary measure, DC K H Ashwathanarayana Gowda has banned the sale of liquor within five km radius of Madikeri town from Wednesday midnight to February 24, 8 pm.

Traffic diversion

All the light vehicles should drop the participants at Gaddige and then park vehicles at RMC Maidan. All the vehicles arriving from Mahadevapete to Madikeri should ply via Ranipete or Sampigekatte. Parking of all the vehicles will be banned at Mahadevapete road after 4 pm. All the KSRTC and private buses should play via Major Mangerira Muthanna Circle-Raja Seat from 1 pm. Vehicles from Moornadu and Mangalore should ply via Chaingate, Sampigekatte before entering the town. The movement of vehicles on Major Mangerira Muthanna, Raja Seat, Kundurumotte Chowti Mariamma temple road has been banned till the end of the convention.
