Rehan Pasha, son of a labourer Siddiqui, was playing outside his house on February 15 afternoon at Rupena Agrahara while his mother was keeping a watch on him.

The woman  went inside leaving him playing in front of the house, but when she returned he was missing. She searched for him the entire day with the help of her neighbours.

Later in the night she lodged a missing complaint with the police fearing that the boy would have fallen in a storm-water drain flowing nearby. There were fears that the toddler could have been kidnapped.

On Saturday morning, some washermen spotted the skeletal remains of a child and immediately reported the matter to the police.

The policemen then alerted the BBMP authorities who rushed gangmen to fish out the body that was caught in a storm water drain pipe running into the Madiwala Lake.

The parents of the child identified the body that of Rehan on the basis of the clothes. The body was found just a half kilometre from Pasha’s house. It is not ascertained whether Rehan died after he fell into the drainage or was killed by some one. The police are investigating.

The body was handed over to the parents after a post mortem in Victoria Hospital.
This is the third incident in the last two years.

Two years ago, a boy Abhishek Prakash from Lingarajapuram was washed away when he was walking with his mother on the pavement and did not see a missing slab. He slipped into the storm water drain and was washed away.

The Army too was roped in when the civic body failed to trace the body. But they too could not find the body.
