Replying to queries from the media, the minister disclosed that he was aware of the issues pertaining to encroachment of forest lands, but would rather disclose the measures on the floor of the house at an appropriate time.
However, he said that the department will be taking back the additional one lakh plus acres of land allotted to Forest Development Corporation.
Initially, 30,000 acres of land had been allotted to the Corporation, that is restricted to the plantation of only Nilgiri. In the later stages, additional 1.25 lakh acres of land was allotted.
