Cop assaults man; robs cash, mobile

The cop has reportedly taken away cash and a mobile phone from Rafiq, an employee in a factory, who was returning home after duty.

The injured told media persons that he came to the old bus stand after finishing the night shift. At that time, Ramegowda, the police constable stopped him and demanded money. However, when he refused to give, the cop assaulted him, took away 1,600 and a mobile phone. The local people dropped the injured person home in an autorikshaw.

Rafiq has suffered injuries on both the hands and was being treated at the government hospital.

A person who was riding a two-wheeler died on the spot when a speeding KSRTC bus hit the vehicle on B M ROad in Hassan on Monday. Lakshmegowda (42) of Dyavamma Layout of Channapatna, is the victim.

The mishap occurred while he was on his home on the two-wheeler. The accident occurred near the HUDA bridge. The traffic police have registered a case.
