<p>Brahmarathotsava is a big event in Nandi, organised on the premises of the Bhoga and Yoganandishwara Temples on the occasion of Mahashivarathri. The festival is being celebrated starting March 3 till March 9.<br /><br />The event, supported by the Religious Endowments and Revenue Department, attracts devotees in large numbers to Nandi.<br /><br />Preparations<br /><br />The organisers are expecting devotees to arrive in large numbers starting Wednesday, March 2, the eve of the Brahmarathotsava. <br /><br />They have therefore provided special facilities for the devotees on the premises of the Temple.<br /><br />Roads to the gods<br /><br />Temporary roads have been built on the Temple premises, and boundary walls have been built around the Temple. Lighting facilities too have been provided to convenience the devotees at night.<br /><br />The Religious Endowments and Revenue Department officers said that special bus service has been set up for devotees visiting Nandi from Bangalore, Kolar and Chikkaballapur.<br /><br />Taking a ride<br /><br />The fest is famous for the procession involving the two chariots of the Temple. <br /><br />The bigger chariot carries idols of Bhoganandishwaraswamy and Girijamba and the smaller carries idols of Ambika and Ganapathi.<br /><br />The chariots too are unique, with stone wheels, unlike the usual wooden ones.<br /><br />VIPs to visit<br /><br />Union Ministers Veerappa Moily and K H Muniyappa, District In-charge Minister Shobha Karandlaje and legislator K P Bachegowda will participate in the festival.<br /><br />Cattle fair<br /><br />The cattle fair has already begun on the grounds near the Temple. Farmers from Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Bangalore and rural districts are participating in the fair.<br /><br />The Religious Endowments and Revenue Department has provided the farmers with water, light and other facilities. Vendors have set up stalls outside the Temple selling sweets, toys and household articles.</p>
