<p>The members staged a dharna in front of the Mini Vidhana Soudha in Mulbagal on Thursday demanding the completion of the construction of the houses at the earliest.Earlier the protesters had taken out a procession in the town. <br /><br />Welcoming the decision taken by the Karnataka Slum Eradication Board which has undertaken the construction of houses for the people residing at Dr B R Ambedkar Nagar, the members said that they were more than 200 families who belonged to Madiga community. The area has been declared as a slum, they added.<br /><br />The protesters said that there is no truth in the complaints given by few people who alleged that houses were being constructed outside the declared area.<br /><br />Huts demolished<br /><br />The people who had been living in the area since 50 odd years have made way for the construction of the houses by agreeing to demolish their huts, said protesters. <br /><br />Strict action should be taken against the people who are making these people scapegoat for their vested interest, they added.<br /><br />The protesters urged tahsildar to pressurise the officials of the Karnataka Slum Eradication Board to fasten the construction of the houses.<br /><br />The President of the Kolar district unit Madiga Dandora Samiti Sahukar Shankrappa, Working President M Venkatesh, General Secretary K S Venkatswamy, taluk unit President Gummakallu Srinivas, TMC member Narayanaswamy, taluk Hamali Sangha President Anjenayulu, leaders Hoovalli Krishnappa, Shivanna, Ramesh and others were present on the occasion.</p>
