After keeping a low profile in the 100cc bike segment for a long time — mainly due to low margins, Bajaj Auto on Friday, launched the 100cc variant of Discover, ‘Discover DTS-Si’ — marking its re-entry.

Bajaj Auto Deputy General Manager, Sales (South) R Chandrasekar said “we had moved out of the 100cc segment as our products did not have margins that made economic sense. This bike has cost efficient technology to deliver the revenue.” With the market leader’s tag in the 150cc plus and 125-150cc segments (43 and 37 per cent respectively), the bike maker is keen on revving up its market share in the 100cc segment. Currently holding nine per cent share in the segment, it is confident that this bike will boost its figures.

Equipped with the ‘digital twin spark - swirl induction’ version 2.0 engine series, which, the firm claims, will help the bike deliver between 78-85 (kilometres per litre) kmpl, at least 12-15 kmpl more than existing bikes.   Bajaj claims of features introduced for the first time in the segment, like, maintenance free battery with charge indicators, longest wheelbase, five speed gear box and Nitrox suspension. It is Priced at Rs 40,000, exshowroom.
