Dempo look to seize home advantage

Last Updated 09 March 2011, 16:18 IST

Dempo, who went through a roller-coaster ride in the first phase, are back in the business in the second phase after the return of six players who represented India in the Asia Cup. They won all their three matches in the second leg to jump to fourth position with 31 points from 16 matches.

Dempo, who drew against Mohun Bagan in the away tie, have the edge in Thursday’s tie with their free flowing passing game. They also use their wings pretty effectively and the rivals will be wary of the threat posed by them in the air from set-pieces.

Coach Armando Colaco is hoping that forwards Ranty Martins and Joaquim Abranches would play in unison and convert the chances that come their way, which is important for them to stay on course of winning the title. “It’s important match and we need to win to keep our chances afloat of winning the title,” said Colaco.
