JOIN USIn a case in S N Palayam, a 19-year old construction worker committed suicide by consuming poison over a love affair while a 46-year old, another worker, ended his life by consuming excess liquor, as he was dejected after his wife deserted him, police said.
A daily wage labourer killed himself by hanging in his house, due to frequent quarrels with his wife. A 25-year old woman hanged herself as her dream to own a large house in the city was shattered, despite her husband being an employee in Singapore, police said.
A 54-year old man of Sulur on the outskirts and a 26-year-old of Selvapuram in the city, consumed poison to end their lives, because they were suffering from TB for long. A 19-year old housewife of Puliyakulam, who quarrelled frequently with her sister-in law, consumed poison on March 5, after knowing that the latter had taken poison after the usual tiff. The sister-in-law, however, recovered after treatment but the 19-year-old died yesterday.
