Getting placed with ease

INTELLIGENT YOUTH

CONTENT Students of City College are happy with the placement opportunities they have been getting. As these colleges have a full-fledged placement cell to look after the hiring process, the students need not to worry about their future. Of late, even degree colleges have been roping in big companies to ensure the bright future of their students.

City College, Jayanagar, which offers regular degree courses along with computer and management courses, is one such college where placement activities have begun with a bang.

Recently, the Computer Science department of the college conducted a pooled campus recruitment drive for BCA and BBM students for the fourth consecutive year. Around 400 students from more than 40 colleges in the City made use of this programme. iGate was one of the major employers and hired nearly 50 students. Students of BBM and B Com courses had been to a pooled interview held at Dayananda Sagar Institutions and a good number of students were placed in organisations such as TCS and Infosys.

“More than ten companies were present and as the students of many colleges had taken part, it was really challenging for any student to get through the process. But our students did very well in aptitude, technical and HR rounds and secured a couple of good offers,” says Dr Vijayalaxmi, Principal of the college. Sushma, from the sixth semester BCA, says she wants to work in proper IT sector and is happy with the efforts of the placement cell of the college.   “We will be taking part in a pooled campus interview to be held in T John College. Wipro will be hiring people for its software jobs. We have been trained in aptitude skills by the department of BCA and have attended a few mock interviews conducted by the placement cell. I am confident of clearing the interview this time.”
