Asphalting based on funds availability: Udasi

Last Updated 17 March 2011, 22:15 IST

Replying to a question by Abdul Azeem of the JD(S), the minister said asphalting of roads would be taken up based on the availability of funds.

Dubbing the reply as an irresponsible one, Azeem wondered how a government could work without a set time-frame to implement the various programmes and plans.

Growth-oriented

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has been saying that his sole aim was the State’s growth and development. In that case both communication and transportation sectors should be accorded top priorities. Although there has been advancement in the field of communication, the transportation sector is lagging behind, said Azeem.

A number of Opposition leaders, especially those from Mysore and Mandya districts told Udasi that roads in their districts were unmotorable.

The minister, however, promised that he would visit the two districts and inspect the condition of roads.
