Dalit Sangharsha Samithi staged a protest, demanding the infrastructure facilities in Dalit colony and to initiate action against the corrupt officials here on Tuesday.

A large number of protestors led by district convener T Manjappa took out a procession in the main streets of the town and shouted slogans against the government. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Tahsildar Thimma Bhovi.

The protestors said “basic facilities should be provided to the crematorium at Ambedkar Nagara. The Ambedkar Nagara should be reserved as SC ward for the TMC election. Loan should be provided to the Dalits for self employment under Ambedkar Development Corporation. The scholarship amount paid to the Dalit students should be increased.”

They said several BPL cards are in the hands of the rich, which should be set right and given back to the poor. Sadashiva Commission report on the status of the SC should be submitted to the government. Nemmadi Kendra situated at Sakharayapattana should be converted into Nada Kacheri.

Manjappa said the politicians neglect the Dalits after the election.

He said “Dalits are harassed everywhere. However, the officials have failed to initiate action against the culprits.”
