The injured are Ramanna Hombala, Hanumappa Abbigeri, Shivamma Dollina, Kariyappa Gadaga and Manjappa Murlapoora. While Hanumappa and Shivamma have been admitted to KIMS hospital in Hubli for treatment, the others are being treated at the Gadag district hospital.
The wolf bit the four men, while they were sleeping near the harvested jowar in the fields to guard it. It also bit Shivamma, who was sleeping on the stone bench in front of a house near the farm. District incharge minister C C Patil visited the district hospital later in the day and enquired about the condition of the injured.
