<p>“Alagiri has himself admitted the fact that he combined his official visit to Chennai as Minister for Chemical & Fertilisers with a personal visit to Madurai for political activities, which amounted to violation of the model code of conduct,” it observed.<br /><br />The commission, however, took a lenient view in the matter, taking into consideration Alagiri’s submissions that he was not aware of “all the nitty-gritty of the procedure” for him being an MP for the first time and that such lapses will not happen in future.<br /><br />Expenditure incurred on any government facilities like airfare from Delhi to Chennai and back, road transport, board and lodging availed of by M K Alagiri during his visits to Chennai and Madurai, shall be reimbursed by him to the government, it directed.</p>
