JOIN US“... (The) two countries have agreed to discuss this issue bilaterally by agreeing to the composite dialogue framework. And Jammu and Kashmir dispute is part of that framework,” Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit told a private Indian news channel when pointed out that Clinton has spoken about no US intervention on Kashmir while Pakistan always wanted the issue to be internationalised.
“We look forward to discussing this (Kashmir), as all our issues and ongoing problems, including terrorism... We look forward to resuming the composite dialogue and the Kashmir dispute is part of that framework,” he said.
When asked if his comments meant that Pakistan would be happy if the US is not a broker on the issue, Basit said: “I am not saying that. I am just saying that its a part of composite dialogue and we are looking forward to discussing that.
“But as a matter of fact there are friendly countries; there are countries which are friend to India, friend to Pakistan... And to say that — the both countries to resolve their disputes, I think this suggestion is welcome, as far as Pakistan is concerned.”
In an interview to Dawn News, Clinton, who is on a visit to India, had said the US wanted India and Pakistan to resolve all their issues bilaterally.
