BJP rebels' meeting with Eshwarappa inconclusive

Last Updated 21 March 2011, 18:09 IST

The rebel camp, which has been spearheading an “oust Yeddyurappa” campaign, held its meeting at Shettar’s residence. Sources said the dissidents were even prepared to present their views before the central leaders.

Sources said the fact that only 40 of the 107 legislators attended a breakfast meeting called by Yeddyurappa last week was an indication that the chief minister had lost the confidence of a majority of the legislators and ministers. Monday’s meeting was attended by BJP National General Secretary Ananth Kumar, ministers Jagadish Shettar, A Ramadas, former minister Aravind Limbavali among others, but remained inconclusive as Eshwarappa had to leave for the party office to address the BJP’s divisional in-charge functionaries.

The rebel group is unhappy over Yeddyurappa neglecting some legislators and old-timers in the party and for taking unilateral decisions. They also said the corruption charges against Yeddyurappa and his family had dented the image of the party.
