' 25 cr to solve mite diseases'

Speaking to presspersons, he said a sum of Rs 5 crore will be released to each Assembly constitueny for desilting of tanks in rural villages. The funds will be released between April and June. The work on desilting must be completed by June.

He said the government is planning to give Rs 10,000 each to 10 lakh farmers. About 5,000 families will be selected in each Assembly constituency. A sum of Rs 2 crore has been earmarked for controlling fruit rot diease affecting arecanut. The government will set up 100 cold storage units across the State to facilitate the farmers to preserve vegetables and fruits grown by them. The government is also planning to send few farmers on foreign tour.

He said HOPCOMS will be strengthened in rural areas.
