On Tuesday, on the basis of the recommendation of the disciplinary committee, the candidate was suspended from the academic activities for one term of six months.

The college maintains that a similar policy was adopted by the institution in all other cases of academic misconduct and dishonesty. The college also said: “It is unfortunate that this student took the extreme step and we join the bereaved family in our prayers to the departed soul.”

Kumar said that the body of the student was claimed by her parents, who would take it  to Indore for the last rites.
