4 killed in accident

Mahadeva (40) of Nadappanahalli village of Chunchanakatte hobli was taking his sister Manjula (31), her five-year-old son Dhanu and a one-year-old daughter on a bike to a hospital in K R Nagar for the treatment of one of the children.

A bus, belonging to a mutt, hit the bike from behind at a slope near the Chamaraja canal on the outskirts of Chunchanakatte. 

Angry locals pelted the bus with stones, breaking the glass panes. K R Nagar police inspector Anil Kumar and Circle Inspector Sandesh Kumar rushed to the spot, to control the mob. The police had to resort to a mild lathicharge to disperse the mob.

 MLA Sa Ra Mahesh, who arrived at the spot, promised a compensation of Rs 1 lakh each to the family members of Mahadeva and Manjula, and Rs 50,000 to the kin of the children killed in the accident.
