Started by Bhupesh nearly a decade and a half ago, this place is one of the favourites of the foodies in the City.

“In the late 60s, the idea of ‘chaats’ was a new concept. So my grandfather Parameshwari Prakash started selling ‘chaats’ and snacks as a means of livelihood. Since it was a family business, I set up another shop later,” says Bhupesh, the owner of the eatery.

The place is so popular that people come all the way from Malleswaram, Yeshwantpur and other parts of the City.  Bhupesh also claims that the puris used for pani puri and ‘masala puri’ are homemade. He takes great care to see that the ingredients are fresh and crisp.

A foodie’s delight, this place doles out ‘chaats’ with a tangy and sweet taste that makes them distinct.

The menu is just the same as that of any other ‘chaat’ shop but the taste of the items and the combination of ingredients used in them make a big difference.

The ‘masala puri’ here comes with a combination of ‘sev’ and cornflake toppings as per one’s preferences. Another hot favourite here is the pav bhaji which has a spicy and tangy taste and is too irresistible to miss.

Apart from that, there are the lip-smacking ‘chaats’, alu puri, pani puri, dahi puri, sev puri, cutlet, samosa, kachori, special ‘masala puri’, alu tikki, dahi kachori, tomato slice, special ‘paneer cutlet’ and paneer pav bhaji which one can try.

After a round of ‘chaats’, one can savour the sweets here. Badam halwa and the piping hot gulab jamuns sinfully melt in the mouth.

People flock the shop in big numbers during weekdays and more so on weekends.
Suvarna, a homemaker who has been coming here for the last eight years says, “Every time I come here, I savour the ‘sev puri’ and ‘masala puri’. The taste of the snacks here is different from those of any other ‘chaat’ shop.”

Opines Shwetha, a professional with a private firm, “I come here with my family just to dig into the pav bhaji as it’s absolutely scrumptious. It also has minimal ‘ghee’ on the pav so people who are calorie conscious needn’t worry much.”

Chandra Chats Center is open in the evenings between 5.30 pm and 10.30 pm. For details, call 9019838812.
