While the officials refused to disclose the identities of those interested in buying the eight teams, it is learnt that a steel major, a consumer durables company, a real-estate builder, some cine artistes and a few politicians have made enquiries as to how to go about the process.
A clear picture will emerge only on August 3, when the franchisees’ bids for the eight zonal teams will be opened. The bid document, priced at Rs 10,000 and originally slated to be available from Monday, can now be procured only from Thursday, July 23. A three-day workshop for potential team owners will begin at the Chinnaswamy stadium that same evening.
The KPL will be held from September 12 to 27. Once the team owners have been decided, the player auctions will be held on August 8.
Prashanth shines
Prashanth took five for 37 and Praveen Pawar backed it up with an undefeated 66 as Chamarajpet Cricket Club overpowered Neptune CC by five wickets in the KSCA Group I Division III league tournament for the Sri Nassur Memorial Shield.
Neptune rode on 70 by Prajwal to make a modest 175, and Chamarajpet easily overhauled the target, reaching 176 for five in the 26th over.
Elsewhere, D Santosh Kumar of Young Lions Club came up with an excellent all-round show in their drawn match with Dooravani Cricketers. After picking up 4/54 to restrict Dooravani to 222 all out, Santosh struck unbeaten 91 as YLC replied with 197/5.
