Power theft: 2 convicted

Shivakumar son of Krishnegowda, Natanahalli, K R Nagar taluk in the district had illegally drawn electricity line to his farm house, when the vigilance squad attached to Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (Cesc) Limited raided the place. He had used 90 units of power.

The Cesc personnel had filed a case and had submitted a chargesheet to the court. The judge of Additional District and Sessions Court on Saturday pronounced the order, besides imposing a fine of ` 15,000. The court also ordered to undergo additional imprisonment of nine months, if he failed to pay the fine amount in lieu there of.

In the second case, Veeranna son of Basavegowda, Kaniyanahundi village in H D Kote taluk in the district had drawn the line to his poultry farm. He had used 179 units of power.

A fine of ` 15,000 was also imposed on him, besides ordering for additional imprisonment of nine months,  if he failed to pay the fine amount, according to a release by vigilance squad SP M M Mahadevaiah.
